Why do I support We Heart Deer Park?
It's easy to begin doing something and then somewhere along the way forget why you began in the first place. As we look forward to hosting year 6 of We Heart Deer Park, we as local pastors have done some reflecting on why we continue to commit time and energy to the event. Here are a couple reasons why I am glad our local churches are still committed to it.
It's an opportunity to love children.
Children matter. One of the greatest ways to demonstrate their value is to love them in a tangible way. We Heart Deer Park expresses love. Whether in the form of a haircut, sports physical, snow cone, or backpack filled with school supplies, the message is the same "you matter and you're loved."
When we love children, we're also loving their families.
One of the ways I feel most loved is when someone cares for my kids. It's my hope that our event would be a blessing to the whole family. We want to not only give resources that will help, but also provide some fun too. Speaking of fun, I'll be working at the balloon tying booth. I hope to see you there!
